FLORIDA TEMPORARY TEACHING CERTIFICATION PROFESSIONAL
Commissioner approval and a bachelor’s degree aren’t required.Ī school district teaching permit is valid for general education classroom teaching assignments only and isn’t available for other assignments including counselor, librarian, administrator, any other professional assignment outside of classroom teacher, or special education or bilingual education. The local school board can issue school district teaching permits for teachers of noncore academic Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses.

An ACP program is ideal for an individual holding a bachelor’s degree and showing content proficiency by taking the Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT).
When unable to fulfill this task, districts must use other avenues, including certifying individuals using one of the following: The main goal of district recruiting efforts is finding and securing a fully certified teacher to serve students. This occurs most frequently in identified teacher shortage areas (i.e., Bilingual/English as a Second Language Special Education Career and Technical Education-Technology Applications and Computer Science and Mathematics). The 2018–2019 school year has begun, but some classrooms across the state don’t have a certified teacher. They will be required to complete an application, pass any exam required by the states, and complete any new teacher-training program required by the state.As school districts attempt to do what is best for their students, they may find it challenging to comply with certification rules. Students who complete a degree in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education will meet the requirements for an initial temporary/provisional certificate in any of the states listed below. Certificate Reciprocityįlorida participates in the Interstate Agreement on Qualification of Educational Personnel. You will receive an application for Florida Certification during your student teaching semester, along with instructions for completion and guidelines for ordering transcripts. Be sure to mark “After Degree is Posted” and indicate the semester and year.
There is a fee for each transcript ordered. If you choose to submit the Application for Certification, the mailing address is: Florida Department of Education Bureau of Teacher Certification 325 West Gaines Street, Room 201 Tallahassee, Florida 32399-0400 Transcripts are ordered through the Registrar’s Office. Check with the district or private employer to be sure of the local procedures. Graduates who are hired locally must themselves submit evidence of a degree-posted official transcript. Many districts in Florida provide the service to new hires of submitting the Application for Certification to the Florida Department of Education as part of the hiring process.
